The Pixel® laser is suitable for anyone who wants to reduce signs of aging, improve uneven skin tone and texture, and minimize acne scarring, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, or pigmentation issues. It leads to new collagen growth for firmer, smoother, and more youthful skin, making it an excellent intervention for early anti-aging concerns.
People with lighter skin, who protect their skin from sun exposure after the procedure, tend to experience the best results with Pixel® laser treatments. People with darker skin are more likely to benefit from alternate skincare procedures and treatments. Pixel® is not suitable for people with Fitzpatrick skin type VI, which includes the skin tones of many people of African and Afro-Caribbean descent.
Pixel® uses the latest technology in fractional ablative laser skin resurfacing treatments. It uses a hand-held device that emits small bursts of heat onto the top layer of the skin.
The emitted energy heats the water within the top layers of the skin, causing both the water and skin tissue to turn to vapor, resulting in the "resurfacing" of the skin. The process ‘ablates’ or vaporizes the dead and damaged skin cells of the outermost layer in a precise and controlled manner.
Unlike traditional ablative lasers that remove the entire top layer of skin in the treated area, the fractional method removes specific skin zones while maintaining intact skin between the targeted areas.
This undamaged skin between laser “hot spots” reduces the temporary damage to the top layers of the skin. It allows the skin to heal much faster with less downtime. This is because the healthy untreated skin tissue surrounding the treated areas can quickly generate new cells to renew the skin in the affected areas. It accelerates collagen production, tightens the skin, and improves overall skin texture.
The Pixel® laser treatments cause minimal discomfort compared to other fractional and ablative skin resurfacing devices. You may experience a mild burning sensation for a few hours after the treatment.
The resurfacing treatment reveals rejuvenated, healthy, and relatively damage-free layers of new skin.
Patients typically require three to six sessions spaced four to six weeks apart to achieve their goals. Pixel® laser treatments can be combined with other light or wave treatments to achieve maximum results.
Other treatment options that encourage collagen growth for rejuvenating facial skin include microneedling, dermaplaning, HydraFacials, IPL therapy, and chemical peels.
The results from Pixel® laser treatment are typically seen within seven days after the procedure. After a few sessions, more significant improvements in fine lines and skin elasticity will be apparent.
After the last session, you will continue to see regular improvements as new collagen is generated over the next four to six months.
For patients with acne scarring, the best results are seen about six months after the final treatment.
