Vbeam® Perfecta is a pulsed dye laser recognized as the gold standard technology for treating visible facial veins and vascular lesions. Visible veins can be an unwelcome condition, especially if the thin lines or associated redness break up the even coloring of your skin.
The Vbeam® Perfecta pulsed-dye laser can treat spider veins on the face, neck, chest, arms, and legs leading to improved skin tone and appearance. The laser also addresses a variety of other aesthetic concerns, such as:
Acne and other vascular (red) scars
Pigmented and vascular lesions
Rosacea symptoms
Post-surgical scars and bruising
Post-injection bruising
Stretch marks
Birthmarks
Warts
How Vbeam® Perfecta Works
Vbeam® Perfecta’s pulsed dye laser causes precise and selective heating in blood vessels in the treatment area. The laser energy heats the skin with precision to impact the pigment (oxyhemoglobin) in the veins. However, it leaves surrounding tissues intact and unharmed. The focused heat leads to the collapse of blood vessel walls and reduces their appearance through the skin's surface. The technology powering the Vbeam® Perfecta device has been used to treat port wine stains since the 1980s.
What to Expect During Vbeam® Perfecta Treatment
During your consultation with Dr. Greco or our Vbeam-certified licensed medical aesthetician, it will be determined if your aesthetic concerns can be adequately treated with the Vbeam Perfecta laser.
When the device is applied to the skin, a fine cryogenic mist first cools the surface to help manage both discomfort and post-treatment redness. You may feel a tingling warmth or a small rubber band-like snap during treatment. Topical anesthetics are available for patients who need them.
Next, the laser delivers an ultra-long pulse that passes through the upper layers of the skin to be absorbed by the red-colored protein pigment called oxyhemoglobin. This absorption creates heat that damages the unsightly blood vessels and leads to their collapse.
Downtime is usually minimal after Vbeam Perfecta treatment. You may experience bruising following your treatment which can typically be covered with makeup.Â
Similar to other cosmetic and aesthetic procedures, your skin will be sensitive to sun damage. Remember to protect your skin with a physical block or SPF sunscreen and avoid harsh, direct sunlight for six weeks after your treatment.
Results with Vbeam® Perfecta Treatment
You may experience mild redness and swelling for a couple of days after treatment. Some bruising or skin darkening is normal and expected.
In the days and weeks after a Vbeam® Perfecta treatment, patients will see their treated areas fade in appearance as the vessels feeding them are cut off from the rest of the circulatory system and are absorbed into the body. More than one treatment may be necessary to achieve ideal results.
In cases where the Vbeam® Perfecta laser is used to treat post-surgical bruising, patients can expect the skin discoloration to fade in about 48 to 72 hours after a session.
Other laser-based treatment options offered by Greco MD include the Pixel® laser for skin resurfacing treatments, laser hair removal for unwanted facial and body hair, and IPL therapy for improving skin tone and texture.
