It's natural to have questions about what to expect when you visit our office for your facial cosmetic plastic surgery consultation. Read on to find out more about doctor-patient consultations with Dr. Greco.
All patient consultations with Dr. Greco are held in a private, comfortable environment and are ideally structured to discuss your particular needs.
We request that all patients complete our patient information form before the consultation. You can fill this out just before your first consultation.
During your consultation, please discuss your health history, including any history of facial trauma, past facial surgery, possible health conditions (such as high blood pressure or heart problems), and any emotional or psychiatric conditions you may have.
Withholding this type of information can affect not only the patient-doctor relationship but may ultimately affect the outcome of your aesthetic procedures.
If you are over 50, we require you to see your family doctor or other primary health care provider before your surgery. This ensures that any changes in your overall health and fitness levels are identified. When needed, adjustments may be made to your treatment plan with these in mind.
Our team will also take photographs of your face and the treatment area for documentation purposes. These photographs will be part of your file and serve as a comparison for you before and after your surgery.
Dr. Greco may also use computer-assisted digital imaging to evaluate the intended change to your facial features based on your aesthetic goals.
The initial consultation with Dr. Greco is the ideal time for you to communicate your goals and discuss any prior experiences you may have with cosmetic procedures.
During this time, Dr. Greco will perform a careful and thorough analysis of your face and provide you with valuable information about facial aesthetic procedures to help you achieve your aesthetic goal. Since each face is different, he will discuss all viable procedures and techniques best suited for you based on your unique facial characteristics.
A fee is charged for the initial consultation, which is applied to any surgery or minimally invasive procedure you may choose to pursue.
Patients should note that most facial cosmetic and aesthetic procedures and surgery can make their skin sensitive to sun damage. It is, therefore, important to keep your skin protected from harsh UVA and UVB rays.
In fact, it is ideal to start using sunscreen and physically protect your skin from direct sun with a hat for up to six weeks before and after your procedure.
Other precautions to take care of in the weeks before your procedure include:
- Abstain from smoking.
- Complete all lab work requested by Dr. Greco.
- Avoid aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and herbal supplements.
- Arrange for family or friends to drive you home after your procedure.
After you meet with Dr. Greco, our team will discuss the cost of any recommended treatment(s) and procedure(s) with you. The cost of surgical services covers the following:
- Pre-and post-operative care
- The procedure
- Operating room fees
You will be responsible for all costs. However, where applicable, you may claim part of your surgery costs from your insurance provider. We will provide you with all necessary diagnostic and procedural codes to help with this.
Please note that the surgery fee must be paid in full during the pre-operative appointment before the actual surgery takes place.
Most patients who undergo a cosmetic surgery procedure develop a more discerning eye. Many patients can identify asymmetries in the face that may have existed before their surgery but now seem easier to spot.
This can be best understood by considering the fact that the face develops from two different sides while in the embryo stage before birth. This causes the two sides of the face to have different characteristics.
An example of this may be that one eyebrow may be a little higher than the other, or one cheekbone may be more prominent than the other. Dr. Greco will discuss these issues with you during your consultation and discuss options to deal with them as needed.
Our certified registered nurse anesthetist will supervise the administration of sedation, ensuring a comfortable and satisfying experience for you. Patients undergo twilight anesthesia which is similar to sleeping.
